Wood Cutting Day

Last Saturday, we had a work day at my parents' house. The men and boys cut firewood all day. Troy had gotten some trees that were cut off my uncles' property and they've been piled in the yard waiting to be cut up. Troy manned the chainsaw and had help from Tommy at times. Once the wood was cut into the right lengths, then Adam, Matt, Tommy and my dad took turns running the wood splitter. John-William and Jackson helped with that, too. After it was split, the wood had to be taken to the barn (by tractor and 4-wheeler with trailer) and then stacked up for the winter. They all worked hard all day long and then were many sore muscles the next day!!

While the men were working on firewood, Tina and I did lawn maintenance to get everything done until next spring. We took turns using the weed eater and trimmed around the house, pool and shrubbery. Tina trimmed the shrubs and I pulled weeds from the decorative rocks around the pool. We also cleaned up all the limbs that had been cut from the shrubs and made one big pile to be burned. Tommy will enjoy himself burning that!!

John-William, Jackson, Michael and Grady were also there helping us that day. As mentioned before, John-William and Jackson helped run the wood splitter. They all helped in hauling the wood (and enjoyed riding in the trailer back and forth to the barn and around the yard!) and stacking the wood in the barn. They were a lot of help that day!

Oh yeah, I didn't have my camera out early in the day, so I didn't get any pictures of my mom doing her part. She cooked breakfast for those who were there early (that did not include us!) and then cooked lunch for everyone. She made homemade chili and baked a ham for those (Adam and Grady) who don't eat chili. And, she had to clean up after all of us eating those meals, too. So, no pics of her cooking but she worked hard, too!
